Animal Reiki - How Can Animal Reiki Improve Both Your Animals' As Well As Your Own Wellbeing?

Do you ever wonder if the old expression about animals having a sixth sense is in fact a reality rather than just a myth or do you believe that animals have a higher level of consciousness to humans?

Or is it in fact a case of animals do not 'close' their minds to what they have available to them, whereas humans tend to think 'I don't understand it so it cannot be possible'?

Think about some very simple scenarios within your own life. We all know of examples when our pets seem to know what we are thinking, or know the mood we are in. The wonderful 'pat' dogs which are used in elderly peoples care homes and hospices for the terminally ill. The feeling of just stroking or patting a loving animal is enough to soften the toughest of cynics. The very well known therapy of ill children and adults swimming with dolphins to help assist their treatment. Or what about a contented cat lying curled up on your lap and purring so loudly you can hardly hear anyone else speak or the faithful dog who just knows when you are coming home from a day at work. These are just a few of the many ways in which we, as a race, benefit from contact with animals but we really don't know why it makes us feel good. Well this is where animal Reiki can be found.

The open mind is one of the reasons why Reiki works so well on animals. The Reiki treatment can be administered to any animal who is suffering from any problem, it can be physical, mental or emotional.

The animals are very receptive to Reiki as they unknowingly have an open mind and do not close down and say this is a waste of time. They just enjoy the feeling it gives them, they feel safe, cared for, loved, energised and much more besides.

Animal Reiki can be given to help with recuperation following surgery or treatment for an illness.

It is also a very compassionate way to give support to the animal and the owner when it is the time in every animals life for it to pass away to the spirit world. This time in particular can be very stressful for both the animal and the owner and Reiki can help on both of these counts. Animal Reiki is also a very strong method of overcoming emotional problems following neglect, abuse or trauma. It is also excellent in helping with trust and fear issues.

Animal Reiki is basically the same as that used on humans. It obviously depends upon the circumstances as well as the type of animal being treated, as to where, and how the treatment is carried out, but generally the animals normal environment is perfectly suitable to allow the Reiki treatment to be given. The scenario should be quiet and stress free and everyone should be calm and relaxed. The pace of the Reiki treatment will be dependent upon the animal itself and sometimes it may be completely responsive in a few minutes of the treatment beginning, whereas other times it will take a bit longer for the animal to respond positively to the Reiki. Some animals become very willing for a hands on Reiki treatment in no time at all.

Animal Reiki is completely compatible with other more conventional forms of treatment but it cannot replace conventional veterinary practices and treatment. It would always be advisable to seek the advice of your usual vet before carrying out any Reiki treatment on your animal. That said, it is perfectly legal to practice Reiki on any animal you own or have permission to do so, and it is 100% safe and will cause no harm to the animal.

You do not need to believe in the power of Reiki for it to work, which is why the treatment of animals is so suitable.

If you love and care for your animals maybe think about animal Reiki as a way to become even closer to your special friend. After all, animals have an open and receptive mind, lets try to make sure the human owners do to.
